Dr. Abigail Abada

Registered Psychologist (AB)

Dr. Abada (she/her) is a registered psychologist with extensive training and expertise across multiple areas of clinical psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta in 2000 and completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2006 at the University of Saskatchewan, in a program that was dually accredited by both the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the American Psychological Association (APA) at the time. She completed her residency in Clinical Psychology in 2005 at the Department of Clinical Health Psychology, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, also in a dually accredited program. Her residency included specialized training in child neuropsychology.Dr. Abada’s clinical experience spans adult mental health, clinical health and rehabilitation psychology, pediatric psychology, and forensic psychology. She has worked and trained in various settings, including the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon, a federally operated forensic mental health facility accredited by Accreditation Canada.Currently, Dr. Abada works in a CARF-accredited outpatient clinic specializing in traumatic injuries, including psychological and brain injuries. She provides assessment, treatment, and consultation services and is dedicated to training and mentoring future psychologists. She supervises psychology residents and a provisional psychologist, and mentors newly hired psychologists, as well as professionals from other mental health disciplines.In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Abada is a sessional instructor at Concordia University of Alberta, where she has been teaching since the late 2000s or early 2010s. She has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in assessment and treatment and is currently teaching an undergraduate course.Dr. Abada is committed to evidence-based practice, clinical training, and advancing the field of psychology through both direct patient care and academic contributions.

A psychoeducational assessment is a type of assessment which offers a standardized score from several different standardized tests that measures intelligence, memory, academic skills, and overall aptitude. These assessments can confirm the presence of an intellectual issue, academic issue or delay, or learning disorder to help inform and/or explore further available support or funding. â€‹
